Counter support for quartzite

How do you support quartzite before installation? I had a lightweight material on the counters and I'm now going to be installing Quartzsite and don't believe there's enough existing support.

Thank you,

Countertop installers install counters. They don't generally do cabinet alterations. Nor would you want most of them to do cabinet work. You will need to have brackets, corbels, or plate steel installed in order to support the overhang of your counters. But, take a good hard look at those cabinets before you lock them into place under stone. They aren't worth putting stone on top of. You need to replace them, or put laminate on them.

You should be able to get the quartzite installer to do anything necessary to guarantee installation of the counter. This would protect you in the case of any future issues.

My contractor installed plywood on top of the cabinets befor the stone was installed. Finish grade was used beneath the overhang and it's stained to match the cabinets if anyoine looks underneath. Then corbels were installed for additional support.

Looks like you are ending with a single-level counter, which is good for overhang support. Beyond a sturdy top plate for the knee wall, I am not seeing anything in the photos that would give me pause. A reputable stone fabricator would tell you if there is an issue - they won't want problems after the fact either.

I totally agree with Duncan. I do not see any problem, but listen to your fabricator. If you are planning on an overhang they can block the knee wall with pieces of 2 x 4 wood and screw in cold rolled plates for added support.
