Viking range pipe dream?

We are building an insulated concrete form home. My one splurge item in the kitchen was to be a Viking 60" range with double ovens. The problem my husband discovered is the hood-to have one that actually does the job, we may need an air makeup unit. That is not in the budget! HELP! Do I have to give up my dream stove because of a range hood?

$400 won't even begin to cover a hood plus a HRV system. It's kind laughable that you'd even SPAM this post to say that. Middleby's layoffs possibly included their social media specialists who had a clue?

Any home that is going to be as tight as ICF will be will need MUA and a HRV no matter what range you pick. You'll just need an especially robust and expensive one if you choose the battaltion meal producing capabilities of a 60" range. It's also overkill proportionately for most private home sized residences. I'd suggest that you read the recent reviews and consider other brands, and consider reducing the size to 48" or 36". Or even a 36" rangetop with separate wall ovens. There are a lot more versatile and reliable choices available that could fit your actual needs much better.

I have no idea why anyone would want a 60" range with all the money you would need to vent this properly not to mention how ugly the venting looks.I have a catering company and have a 36" Bertazzoni that does all I need it is gas with gas convection oven and then I have double full sized kitchen-aid wall ovens that are electric convection. I love the wall ovens installed away from my range and would not go with any other cooking appliances.These have served me well for 8 yrs.

Thanks for your feedback, Patricia. As I mentioned, it was a dream to have the 60" stove and we were told the venting could be contained so that it was not ugly. It was when we were told about the other costs, we saw the writing on the wall. I like your point about having the ovens away from the range!!!
