help with my pet

Hello, My name is Janet, owner of a 3 yr old male Blue Nose Pit. I've had him since he was 6 wks and other than a seasonal skin irritation in the warmer months "Blu" has always been a playful, energetic and healthy dog. This past December he started limping (hind legs) and loosing his balance and shortly after his head would shake, like a mild tremor. After several visits to his vet and then to the emergency hospital. They recommended we take Blu to a neurological specialist. After a very costly MRI and Spinal Tap and blood work we still had no answers. The only thing we know is that it is not cancer and he does not have a tumor. Its not been a little over 8 weeks and Blu is still unable to walk without falling or eat and drink due to his head shakes. Just before our emergency room visit Blu was unable to lift his head or walk more than a few steps without falling over. He has made some progress but still is not capable of walking without falling or eat or drink on his own. He is on 10 mg of Prednisone and an herbal medication for his coordination. When I look at Blu he reminds me of someone who has suffered a stroke. The doctors have said that they would have seen the stroke in the MRI. I am at a loss, I do not know what to do and Blu is frustrated. Has anyone ever experienced this or has any advise.
