My ongoing living room.

New sofa and rug. Painted wall and woodwork same color, took down old window valances, but I am still wondering about something to warm up the windows. It can be cold at night, we live in Vermont... The windows just seem so stark to me

With such a lovely view and great room, I'd go as minimalist on the windows as possible. Either white wood blinds; white shades - but make it minimal so in the summer, when you aren't worried about the cold you can enjoy the view with minimal interference. Your room makes me want to just sit and visit!

Bottom up/top down shades? I love ours and they work for light control, privacy and warmth.

I do have the honeycomb shades in my dining room which would make sense carrying it through... But, would I still need more color?

Look at the beautiful color right outside your windows. I think you have just the right inside, so make the window coverings purely functional. And like that they would match around your home this way, too.

I would used drape panels to warm up the room. Also the fabric will help you insulate the inside from the cold. I would choose a color from your carpet to accent the drapes.

I would paint the back of the shelves a deep rich color (similar to your drapes near your TV.
