No, I'm not kidding. If you look at the chart from Scientific American cited at the bottom, you will see the associations of food and drink the flavor chemists have worked out. Remember that the darker, thicker lines show the greatest number of shared flavors.

It's confusing, needs to be seen in 3 dimensions, and doesn't explain either why apple, cinnamon, and pie crust go with cheddar cheese and oolong tea or why black pepper is good on musk melon ...
