Tiny bathroom remodel on a budget (amateur)

Our guest bathroom had original 1978 blue fixtures and a gothic medicine cabinet/lighting combo (along with a clock radio that was hardwired into the wall). There was also no electrical outlet to plug in a hair drier. When we found ourselves having to replace the toilet due to a plumbing emergency, we gave the bathroom a makeover.

We couldn't afford to switch out the blue sink or blue shower surround, but it looked weird with our white toilet. We needed to find a way to marry the blue with the white.

We painted one wall SW Centerstage, added an outlet, swapped out the medicine cabinet for a larger mirror, installed a newer, brighter light fixture, and added floating shelves. Then we installed sheet vinyl flooring over the old cracked floor. Not counting the toilet, we spent about $400.


We're very happy with how it turned out!

      The floor looks great! What about a tension rod in front of the shower to add more color and texture with a shower curtain (and to hide the blue if you want to downplay it more)? Can you have the sink top painted for very little if you took it to an auto body shop or to one of those tub refinishers, or just found a sink top on clearance (again, only if you want to eliminate the blue)?

      Really like the new wall color. We had two recent clients who also went with that cool lime-green color on a bookcase wall, and a similar pistachio-green color on an interior sliding barn door project. That color really brings things to life!
