It seems like with what your selections are so far that going with a stone look would look timeless and go great with your granite selections. You can get travertine in pretty much any size and can get it tumbled or honed and filled. Travertine is best if you seal it just like your granite countertops. These two pictures are backsplashes that we ahve done the top is a stone mosaic and the bottom is actually a porcelain tile that resembles travertine.

to Phyllis: which cabinets are you choosing, the lighter or the darker? I'm looking to redo my kitchen, and I like the lighter ones for myself -- can you share the brand and style? thanks. By the way, your other choices look like they will blend beautifully.

I choose the lighter one, and had that sample with me that day when we picked out our granite. I will find out the name next week.
I love white cabinets but this had a gold cast to it that I loved- you don't notice it in this lighting.

It is finally coming together, vent isn't attached at ceiling as it needs moved a couple inches. Went with glass tile from Floor &Decor in Orlando, color is pure wool. Cut very easy for glass, a happy surprise.
In the homestretch and house will be done.

And here is the oblique in the laundry room

There are some handmade tiles that are glazed all different colors and some have texture to them. You could do a picture framed look behind the stove if you have more room and the textured tile in the middle of it. With the same color in a herringbone look as the backsplash. Second option would be a travertine backsplash.

I am truly enjoying my kitchen, though my waistline may be suffering. The glass tiles for backsplash have worked out quite nicely, cleaning up is simple. Had a basket weave rough stone in previous home, it was beautiful, but challenging to clean up.
