We did not use a trim strip with our glass subway tile backsplash--we have a large area without cabinets above where it only goes about 3 tiles high--we did not put trim above (simply grouted it) and also did what you suggested at the ends--flipped cut pieces so finished side showed on the outside. It really looks very nice and clean--we loved it! Looks so much better than a schluter strip (which we looked at)--just using the tile looks very crisp and stylish. Thanks! on the right side, did you grout that edge completely or do you see the actual sides of the glass?

You can see the actual side of the glass--it isn't covered with grout. (Same on the top.) Of course, if you are looking straight into the side of the glass (which would require you to be next to the wall or, in our case, looking straight in from the end), you can see the green glass color, rather than seeing the tile color (since the color comes from paper glued to the back of the tile). We were a little concerned about this at first, but practically speaking it hasn't been a problem--in normal activities we aren't in a position to be looking straight into the end of the tile. And if yours wall continues, not very likely anyone is going to be looking straight through the side of the tile anyway. Let me know if you have other questions--I think you'll like the look! I can try to take another close up picture of the edge, if you like.
