Let's see your beloved pets

We need some happy posts on this forum, so let's see your pets! The first one is Lily, an adopted German shepherd/Australian shepherd mix, loving the snow.

And here's Rocky, Lily's buddy ... another adopted dog, he's a smooth-coated collie mix.

And here they are together ... they lay like this all the time ... touching.

Lily and Rocky are just beautiful, as are all the pets on this thread! These are my current two, the latest in a succession of previous pets who have shared their lives with us. Brynn, on the left, is a poodle/Chihuahua cross (according to the DNA results) a rescue pooch of approx. 13 years, and Mabel, on the right, is our 3 yr old sheltie. The second photo was taken a few years ago when Mabel was still a puppy.

Our 21 and 1/2 year old kitty left us recently, but she deserves a photo too. This was taken a couple months ago. RIP Plywood kitty.

This is a wonderful thread, and one that should be renewed every few years. (I seem to remember an earlier version of this same thread.) It's so nice to see everyone's beautiful animal companions!

This is Willow. we adopted her from the track in Tampa, FL, back in October. I see her litter mate sister, Lucy, just became available for adoption after pulling up lame in her last race... just as my Willow did in September.

The Greyhounds are loaded into a special truck and essentially drive up I-95 to as far north as Boston. They meet various adoption groups at pre-arranged rest stops or truck stops. The dogs are taken to a facility by their new foster parents and are bathed. In my group, all new-from-the-track Greyhounds are fostered for a minimum of two weeks before being eligible for adoption.

There were three dogs for our group in this "haul." They had been neuter-spayed at the track, teeth attended to if required, brought current on shots, checked for Heartworm, etc.

My Willow used to be named Madilynn. Madilynn is the name of one of her prior owner's granddaughters, her litter mate, Lucy, is named for the other granddaughter.

Lovely pets everyone ... I probably did this same post a year ago. I know people come onto this forum to ask questions, but I also think we need to celebrate our furbabies. Love seeing the many senior pets ...

Those of you who have been around for a while, will remember my last set of kids ..

    socks,

I'm in the MD suburbs of DC. I'm 72 years old. Greyhounds typically live to be 12-14 years old. Do the math.

Told wife I'd get her on a plane to Tampa to "check out" Lucy. (Meanwhile checking on logistics of flying Lucy.)

    No dice!

They are adorable!! How fun to have a house full of bulldog puppies!!

It is fun - but terribly, terribly hard work.

I had three litters - all by artificial insemination, all by C-section, and all came home with me to an incubator.

Nine pups, nine pups, and six pups - big litters for Bulldogs. Three Champions - one per litter.

I had to euthanize my last girl three years ago. Tonto was thirteen years old. A nearly unheard of age for that breed. I cried for days. I vowed never to have another dog and donated all of my equipments and supplies to various groups.

Lasted three years and I now feel so good about my Greyhound girl, willow.

I always summoned my Bulldogs to meals by saying, "Bulldogs want to eat?"I now summon Willow by saying exactly the same thing.

You know she might actually be a long nosed, long tailed, long legged Bulldog

I would love to be able to take in her litter mate/sister, however ...

i used to work with a girl whose female english bully had a litter of pups and would not nurse them. we set up a playpen in the office and she brought the puppies to work every day to bottle feed them. they were the cutest little things EVER!!

    yours were absolutely adorable!!

For my second and third litters I had three adult females in the house. I had been warned by many, many experienced breeders to not let the other females near the pups as the mother would ferociously protect their young ones.

I found this to be not the case...

Oh, and my cats were interested also:

If you can see above, the "Flying Saucer" bowls are for feeding them kibble mush - meaning I had already weaned them so Mom and adult sister had to be kept out or they would have eaten the food.

Once they've been weaned, mom stops recycling their poo into milk for feeding the pups. This happens literally a couple of hours after the pups start taking their first solid food!

Below is a pup on its date of birth inside my incubator.

When I had my litters I created an E-mail mailing list and sent out updates at least daily, frequently with photos attached. Lots of people, including other breeders, learned a lot and I benefited from the feedback.

After I finished up my first litter, I wrote a Magazine article titled, "The Nancy Litter," for a person named Nancy that had helped me prepare for mine. The article detailed the costs of a first Bulldog Litter.

Costs = emotional, financial, and physical.

Raising artificially inseminated, C-section delivered litters, whelped by a mother that is so physically dense that if she rolls over on them they will likely suffocate, requires total supervision 24/7 for 3-4 weeks . I slept on the floor with the mother between feedings for 4 that time until I weaned them and only then could I move to the couch.

great pics everyone. awww, how adorable are those bulldog pups!!! what I got a giggle out of was when hoover got down the step and there are two other puppies looking down at him as if they're thinking "hey, what are you doing down there!! how did you do that?!"

puppies are soooo cute, no wonder people buy them on a whim (not good) but damn they are irresistible! so full of curiosity and wonder about the world

ps. I also love the little guy standing on the scales, too cute! it's like he/she's at diet bootcamp lol, but I think he's cheating 'cause he only has two paws on the scale lol.

Beautiful! I love all the long hair cats and those BULLDOG PUPPIES! They are so adorable!

Here's my Shih Tzu - Leila - enjoyin' some spring sunshine!

Mouse - our crazy kitten It's too funny how this kitten terrorizes the one pictured below. She was the first cat we got, and she thinks she warrants extra pampering. Mouse will creep up on her, just like this pic shows, and just creep and creep, closer and closer, and KitKat will lay there with her ears back, just glaring at him, growling the whole while. Finally she'll swipe at him with a yowl and he just jumps at her and then around they go, him chasing her, and her growling the whole while. It's so funny to watch! He tires of the game quickly and then leaves her alone.

Kit-Kat.. mincing around in the snow

Punkin - Posing like a gentleman

I'm glad someone resurrected this post! Unfortunately, I lost Lily (very first picture at the top) early in December. Very quick, cancer which had spread. Rocky and I were miserable. A month later we found another girl to liven up our home, I adopted Shiloh from a Canadian rescue. A local rescue wouldn't adopt to me because I didn't have a fenced yard ... now I have that too. So here is Rocky and his girl friend Shiloh:

Keep the pictures coming! I love see everyone's furbabies!!

My most recent rescue, Ginger, adopted in May 2015. She's approx. 3. My dogs are from New England Brittany Rescue, and Ginger was to be the first dog I did a volunteer transport for. My BIL said that I did a great job on transporting but failed on the delivery! I was asked to foster her briefly at the last minute, so brought her to my house, and she got along so well with my others that I couldn't give her up. Ginger's DNA test, to solve my curiosity, shows her to be a mix of Silky Terrier, English Toy Spaniel and Std Shorthaired Dachshund. She was called a 'Brittany Blend', but I don't care what she is, as she is so sweet and the boss, despite the boys being three times her size.

Here she is a few day after joining the family with her brother Rooney, adopted in July 2014. Roo is approx. 4.

Last but not least, Riley, adopted in November 2011. He'll be approx. 7 this year.

Here are my two pups, Rosie and Cooper - the b&w (4mo) one was adopted from a rescue a few weeks ago. My golden is almost 9mo and they are best buds now.

And my two kitties...both 2yo, Maverick (white) was rescued from the shelter, and Socs (tabby) from a co-worker who found her abandoned at only 2 days old.

While they all can be a pain in my butt sometimes (like coming home to the trash being dumped and spread throughout the house...), they're MY pains in the butt and I wouldn't give them up for anything! :)

i just cruised this whole thread, what great pics of all of these wonderful pets!!! it's obvious each one is very loved!

this is my present pack of misfits. LOL! olivia, 9 years old (a totally charming girl, loves to be hugged, stately matron sort of personality), destiny, 7 years old (a real momma's girl, a little flighty when it comes to things that are new to her but she is very accepting once she knows i'm right there and won't let anything hurt her), and of course, eden, 3 years old (probably the most "needy" dane i have ever had, as lovable as they come, can't get enough attention, so so so playful!). eden has settled in like a champ, pretty much knows her outdoor boundaries and is a total love bug!
