Love how the yellow W came out. You did great. I think all over curvy lines would be nice. Either the Baptist Fan or circles like Jennifer suggested. You could even let some of the circles overlap.

I think it's a super result for your first quilt. I agree with Bev; the yellow W looks great. I love the combination of grey, white and yellow.

I would use my walking foot to quilt about 1/4 to 1/2" away from both sides of the seam. You could use yellow, white or gray thread.

Usually on the maker critiques a quilt harshly. We can be assured the baby won't! ;-) It looks really interesting. I lean toward your impulse to kind of echo quilt it, but whatever you decided you have to like it.

I would do organic straight-ish lines from the top to the bottom, and I think once you wash it, you won't notice any slight imperfections at all! This is very pretty

What a stunning design that made!! I l.o.v.e. the edges like that, too! and Wesley will look soooo adorable on that quilt! Don't be so hard on yourself....it's beautiful, and puckers only add to that made-with-love look! I'm too new at this, myself, to advise on any quilting, but just wanted to say how pretty!!

Thanks Beth, but I just cut all the triangles off the edges! : ( They just happened when I joined the strips on the diagonal.

You might consider tying the quilt to finish it? Since ties are not continuous like machine or handquilting it might be more forgiving. Combine it with nice thick batting and it could be fluffy and cozy.
