What did you use under the handrail to support the 4x4 posts?

Is that an aluminum or Stainless tube or extrusion? If yes, how did you attach to the IPE 4x4's?
BTW, great job on the deck, and I really like how you managed the cable rails on the stairs.

It is anodized aluminum U channel with the opening facing up. It is screwed down into a rabbit in the 4x4. We also added low voltage led lights pointing down on the cable rails. It looks spectacular at night.

Thank you for the speedy response! May I ask if you consider the U channel as "structural" to help the 4x4's to resist the cable tension? Did you use a router to cut the rabbits into the 4x4's and did you cut the entire U?

In this application, the u channel is not structural, the top of the railing is IPE which when anchored to the 4x4's is plenty of strength to keep the posts strait against the cables. In another application, we used 5/4 x 6 Azek which needed extra support. In that case, the u channel was adding a lot of additional stability. The u channel is 1"x1" and yes, we cut out the entire 1" slot using a circular saw set to 1" depth.
