It definitely needs artwork, is there anything else you think could "liven" it up?

What if you polyshades the vanity and mirror towards a dark cherry tone? The style and colors you have there would be great with a tad more arts and crafts look .. Then if you decide to add some board and batten details, it will be cohesive. I think board and batten to about 6' in a bathroom is really charming - and it looks clean painted glossy white (here a warm white to work well with gray and cherry wood tone)

Nice lighting. You need to punch up the walls. If this is a powder room, a quick fix is a bold color on the walls. Needs to be in the middle to lower third of a paint strip. Pick a color you love, unless this is connected to a bedroom it can stand on its own. I would also paint the mirror frame in a metallic to coordinate with the light fixture or the trim color. If you have a taller chest, change it out for the wicker OR add a wall mounted shelf above. Your art/wall decs are just to small. Creative, inexpensive art suggestions...frame calendar art. Make your own art by taking pictures of plants, architecture in your area, public fountains, etc. Large pattern fabrics also make great art. Visit thrift stores and pick up cheap frames, then paint them all the same color. Hope this helps.
