The varnish or poly is looking so bad I want to redo it but dont know what is best . There is delicate work I'm afraid of damaging. Attached are pics of the table with the varnish looking whitish. If I run my nail into it, it comes right off, like old nail polish

Purchased table many years ago in W-S, NC but I'm pretty sure it is an import .
