We purchased a home last summer and are thinking about refinishing our wood floor to a darker color and would also like the same wood in kitchen when we remodel it. After taking out the old railing it looks to me like the wood floors are extended through the kitchen and foyer and have been covered up with ceramic. The entire upstairs is hardwood and was covered up. The floor is raised where ceramic has been placed. Is it possible to remove the ceramic and save the wood floors? Or is this just not worth it and better to replace floor where ceramic is? Thanks for any suggestions.
