Just flip it over and use the same bulbs. If you prefer it like this, use small ceiling fan bulbs to avoid peeking out.

I'm trying maximize the lighting potential. For example I've heard sconce put off the best light for mirrors! Even up lighting is ok! But I've heard down lighting is the worst (cast shadows,makes you look 10 years older...etc.) I was just wondering if one light bulb would create a better "mirror" light than another? I'm afraid I am stuck with the light fixture the way it is, pointing down! I was thinking a halogen? Or small flood light? Just wanting to avoid spending too much money testing light bulbs! Has anyone found a light bulb that works for your down lighting over your mirrors?

In our current home, master bath has double sink and a pair of double down lights over each. Previous owners mixed the bulb colors over each sink- daylight and warm I think. Works quite well enough to shave or apply makeup. We switched to LED with the same mix. No issues.

Still not sure why you can't adjust them to point up. Even I can do that. No need for an electrician. Then use a makeup mirror if necessary.

I prefer daylight ( natural sunlight) colored bulbs, 40 to 60 watt depending on how much light you need to see yourself ok to apply makeup etc. It's really a personal preference, and you may have to try different types or wattage of bulbs before you get it right. I would not recommend halogen or any type of spot light as they are costly and put out a lot of heat.

You want frosted bulbs rather than clear, and probably warm white. I wouldn't go less that 40W each (assuming standard incandescent) or you won't have enough light. I think we have a total of 200W of lights over our two sinks, older-style exposed round bulbs, and it's been great. I think you're overly worried -- just don't get a cold color of bulb and you'll be ok.
