I have a neighbor that has a cactus and succulent collection. I have succulents too, so we often talk about gardening together and share cuttings. He jokes that my roses are too much trouble and he could never bother. Well, today he left three miniflora roses on my porch that he had purchased from the 99 Cent Store. I thanked him for the pleasant surprise and he went into his house. A few minutes later, he hopped back into his car and returned with several more rose plants, this time for his wife and sister-in-law. His wife must have sent him back out. He grumbled that he knew he would be the one to end up taking care of them. I told him, it's not as hard as you might think. Roses are tough. "We'll see", he said. I hope they do well in the garden, because it was a thoughtful gift. They sure look pretty now.
