cmstarks - How funny that you describe those cushions as couch-style... The cushions in the picture are actually couch cushions! The custom-made cushion wasn't ready when we shot the photos, so we borrowed the cushions from the couch in the other room.

I imagine any good upholsterer can make cushions like those. Most of the time, window seat cushions will have to be custom made because there's no standard size for a window seat, although I have designed one that was sized to fit a twin mattress.

Too funny! I do have some couch cushions that look like that... Also, I love the pullout shelf!

I'm thinking of making cushions myself, and wondering if I can do something to add a little "poof" beyond a piece of rectangular foam.

I imagine some batting (probably quite a bit of batting) in addition to the foam would help get the "poof" you're looking for.
