Please help arrange my living room.

Hi guys,

My living room measures 17x15 with ceiling height of 9ft. The living room is a step down and/or sunk-in. see picture #2.

I need help rearranging my furniture. Keep in mind I don't plan on keeping the couches or the black chair, but this is my starting point.

I do plan on buying 2 side chairs, a bookcase and a drawer. where do I put those items to make this room function?

At the moment, no. The TV is located downstairs in the family room. Besides, there is no good area here for a TV.

Your room seems big enough to have at least one sofa. I hope others who can post a layout will be along soon.

If you buy everything on your list, you will overcrowd your room. The facing sofas look nice, you might begin with a rug between, at least one table and lamp for each, and a cocktail table in the middle over the rug. the chair does need to go! So do the red looking window coverings. This could be a very elegant room. Houzz has some really great ideas that would work for this room with two sofas in it.
