The plant you are looking for info on is Mimulus guttatus, not Sticky Monkey Flower as that is an entirely terrestrial plant of chaparral areas.

On the other hand Mimulus guttatus can do well in wet spots, generally best as a marginal plant. Check with a nursery that sells native plants. Sometimes it does crop up in the mass market chains.

There is also another aquatic type of Mimulus with red flowers. It is Mimulus cardinalis. I have seen this species growing in a small stream of fairly rapidly running water. It is much more an erect growth habit than M. guttatus which tends to have fleshy type stems.

M. cardinalis may be difficult to find in the commercial market.
