Help me figure out my living room layout!
Any ideas what to do with the blank space on the left of the fireplace? The tv will be mounted on top of the fireplace and the ladder bookcase was purchased with the intention of putting it on the left, but with the window in the way, it doesn't make sense to put it there. I thought about moving the console from the right to the left as well, but the previous owner had made a hole in the right wall to feed all cables from the mounted tv through. Any ideas would be appreciated! Attached shows a pano of the living room and also shows how the ladder bookcase looks on the left of the mantle in comparison to the right.

Make sure your TV cabinet is at least 25% longer than your TV. Fireplaces are for art.

Here's (somewhat) better pictures of the room. And I love my ladder bookcase, I won't be getting rid of it any time soon. I will take pictures of the empty wall as soon as I get home. I thought about putting the tv on the empty wall as well, but with the placement of my couch, it will block the entryway from the kitchen to the living room. Let me know what you guys think!

Aha, the dreaded sectional with chaise. A very narrow TV console with the TV mounted on the wall would probably work. In any case, I would move the sectional out of the corner so it is either centered on the window if possible, or at least the arm aligns with the edge of the window.
If you are determined to mount the TV over the fireplace, then the big blank wall would be perfect for a wall-o-art.
