HI -Kevin in Boise -- If you have a good Garden Nursery near you , they usually have people that can help you with a landscape plan . I think a front walkway that starts with the width of the front steps and widens as it goes down to the main sidewalk . It can be done in a poured (stamped ? ) concrete or done with the bricks . In the space that will be in between the walkway and the driveway ,plant three trees - pear or any smaller showy tree with a mass planting of bushes on the base. Plant a larger wispy white trunk tree such as a weeping birch maybe on the left side for dappled shade . Add some big character large rocks . Plant ECO grass that you don't have to mow and it's drought tolerant . Use decorative gravels . Save ideas from searches . Search MCM landscaping for it's tailored low maintenance style . Just a start of a few ideas .

Your plantings run along the house. I think they need to meander about. Grab a garden hose and lay out where you think garden will be. When you like what you see, you can throw a line of lime down ( like they chalk baseball lines)' then get out a spade. Perhaps a dwarf tree to ground the extended garden. Mulch and replant. Go to local nursery for plants that are successful in your area.
