Arborvitae which branches' colour is changing

I have three Thujas, that i had for almost 2 years now. Never had a problem until this winter. The leaves or needles(dont know how to call them) of two of them are blackened on some portions of the branches. Its not a slime or something watery, just the colour is changed. We have a dog in the yard, but the damage is too high to be caused by him. My other suspicion is the extremely damp autumn and winter here...its almost constantly raining. I noticed the damage after the first and only snowfall in the region this year. I dont have experience with this type of Arborvitae, so if anyone can help identify this, I would be most than grateful.

Thanks for the attention in advance.

Best regards to all

Sure does look like dog pee. wonder if he-the dog-got up extra high on the snow this winter? If not the case, I don't know.

At this point, clean it up (remove all needles that aren't healthy) and see how it recovers. Thuja will generate new needles from bald areas. That's basically all you can do.

Its quite possible for the dog to be the reason..didnt think of height add to the snow:) Ok will cut the dead areas and surround it with a fence to counter my furry friend. Thank you both for the help very much=)

ignore it.. until late spring ... to see how it reacts .. then think about what to do ...

looks like it needs to be staked upright .. it thats the whole plant in the pic ...

If you can keep the dog away from it with a fence, it should recover.

You're telling me you'd "ignore that" Ken. Yeah right. First thing you'd do is remove spent foliage my friend and commander.
