Are there fish and plants in the pond?

I have my pump sitting on a pile of rocks. The rocks are In a long narrow planter. So everything is off the bottom by 4 or5 inches.Then I have a bag of matrix In a net bag that sits across the pumps for more filtration. One pump has a foam prefilter, the other just has the stones as a prefilter.

I have 2 pumps and filters. One is pressurized, one is for the waterfall.

There are fish and plants. Going through it I realized this pump pumps upwards to the bottom of the waterfall resevoir, through a mesh filter and through the lava rocks. The UV filter needs replacing but I'm not sure it's necessary. I would just like some mechanical filtration before it gets to the waterfall resevoir.

I use two of these stacked together for the waterfall.

I was skeptical but they made a difference. They are great little bio factories. I rinse them in pond water once a week.

UV lights get replaced based on usage.
