Looking forward to SPRING FLUSH!

The past couple of weeks my rose bushes have begun putting on lots of new growth, it's amazing to me how quickly it all takes place, from just beginning to put on new growth, to already forming buds! The timing is right on schedule, I usually begin seeing blooms by the end of April or early May. The next few weeks are always an anxious and exciting time. This will be the third season for many of my roses and I am waiting with anticipation to see the spring flush!

Me too I cannot wait. I lost one of my faves, either Oklahoma or Double Delight, not sure which one until it blooms but added some new ones including some tree roses....yep excited.

Just nubbins here, and I usually have a couple of inches of growth by now. Snow flurries tomorrow. :-(

That's wonderful news, Sara! I know I always take tons of photos of buds in the early spring because I'm so anxious to see them bloom, lol! The leaf buds aren't even starting to fatten here yet and I still have them all under wraps. We going down to 19 tonight!

    Great news Sara!

Nothing happening here yet at all... I do notice the smaller rose bushes that were buried in snow most of the winter have a lot of green canes... Others well not so green...lol

Me too! I've got a few about to open, but the big flush will probably come just after Easter.

Arrrrrrrrgh....just came in from moving pots into the garage and covering my roses, some with lots of new growth. 28 degrees predicted tonight, 24 tomorrow night, after a week in the 70's. So much for MY Spring flush, lol. Hope to save some of it, at least.

I am excited for the ones who will have blooms soon, I would love to see pictures, if possible. I hope that those of you who are still having winter weather will see a warm up very soon. Wish you the best with the cold temps John and hope there isn't too much damage. I always keep my fingers crossed until the end of April, weather can be so unpredictable.

With 90 degrees today and more hot days to come the roses are definitely growing, and it hurts to pinch off the buds on my young roses, but I keep telling myself I'm doing the right thing. My Duchesse de Brabant, however, is growing like a weed even though it was only planted last October. It gets to keep most of its blooms.

I am so glad it's growing season in NC again! Beautiful WW II Memorial Jim. I was excited about all of the new growth I have seen this year...but we have a hard freeze coming tonight, I hope the growth survives. This is year 3 for most of my roses, I have been greatly anticipating this summer!!

..what a lovely fresh looking white rose in that photo above, by the wall and black railings.... I wonder where Jim in AV is as I can't find an 'AV' in the U.S. state code list...and I do so like to know where people post from... so maybe it means something else... as in the photo I am intrigued by the view in the background which looks like a partially snow covered valley spreading out far and wide towards a range of hills.... yet the weather looks warm and sunny.... I cannot fathom...

...anyway, regardless.... I hope the rose has a nice scent...

I'm sure enough ready. Lots of new growth and a few tiny buds forming. All the new roses are looking good. The end of April, first half of May are on the way.

Rose season surely slow to get started here...lol... Woke up to 1/4 inch of snow and a 20 degree temp this morn...

So nice to see rose pics from others! :-)

Marlorena, It's the Antelope Valley in Southern California. Actually, this is probably the palest of the mauve roses and does indeed look white at times.

..oh thank you Jim... excuse me here...

...I got another 2 months to wait before I see anything like that...

So, my WWII Memorial, not being content to put out the first flush of the season, is sending out shoots for a SECOND flush.

Jim, it's a beautiful rose! Looks like such a good bloomer.
