Possibly fungus spores in the air. Pick up all the old petals and flowers on ground.

sounds like camellia petal blight, a fungus as mentioned above. longriver01's advice is correct. this is common with spring showers and the high humidity it brings during mild weather days.

I did do as they suggested and it seemed work on the newer blooms....old thumb
