Yes, I think the fridge would be too far away. And it doesn't look like that space is deep enough; even a counter depth would stick out past the doorways. How about the coffee bar over there? You could have tall pantry, counter, tall pantry. I'm guessing you don't like the island as pictured? I don't either - looks forced.

You shouldn't do 12" deep wall cabinets over 12" deep base cabinets. It will always look top heavy and it will be difficult to use the counter.

Whatever you do, get rid of that angled base cabinet on the end. It is not necessary, and the angles don't match the cabinet above.

I love trying to arrange kitchens, however I cannot tell what you are asking. Do you want the refrigerator with it's back to the island? We did not get a second photo. maybe you should try again.

I was thinking of removing the island and putting the fridge and cabinets around it on that wall, instead of on the left wall. Thank you for taking a look.

I cannot understand the drawing very well, either, but I will try to help you. For one thing, I believe your kitchen is too narrow for an island. Personally, I would forget about the bar stool element that goes crosswise toward the top of the drawing and put a wall of cabinets and closets along the wall shown at the top of your drawing. I also would put the refrigerator in the cluster that is near the center of the wall shown on the left. If you have the refrigerator at the top of this cluster and have the handle on the left, you would have counter space on the left for setting things down, pouring beverages, and serving chilled or frozen foods. This placement of the refrigerator would be in keeping with the "work triangle" of the kitchen.

Yes, I do have another dining area through the doorway to the left at the top. I really like the 2nd option showed. Do you think the fridge and stove should still be swaped? I have the fridge there now and I hate walking in the bottom left doorway and seeing the side of the fridge. It seems to block the entire entrance because of the height. To really think about it, we would need to know what those openings are- windows? doors? heavy traffic? Nice view? You always want to design around those functions as well. Also, how many people do you want to sit? Is this your only dinning area now?

There's only one window over the sink. If you are standing at the sink, the doorway to the left is the family room and has pretty heavy traffic. The opening at the bottom left of the picture is the front hallway and front door area. Also pretty heavy traffic. The doorway to the left of the island is the living room and not much traffic. We hardly ever use the formal living room. There are no doors on any of these openings. I was thinking of changing my formal living room into a dining area if I couldn't figure out how to seat 4 people in the kitchen.
