master bath remodel - should I do accent tile

We are starting a remodel of our master bath. We will be removing the garden tub and installing a shower in that space. We will also be removing the existing shower and making that a closet. The only other change will be replacing tile floor. The bathroom floor and shower walls will be a wood look tile. We have a rectangle window that will be in the shower space - what should we do for the trim around the window? One recommendation from the contractor is to do my accent tile like a border around the window. I have attached photos of the tub area that will be the shower and the tile for the floor & shower, the tile for the shower floor and ceiling (2x2 tile); and last, the glass mosaic

accent tile for the shampoo boxes. Any suggestions?

The wood look tile will be on the bathroom floor and up the shower walls.

This is one of the hardest renovations to do! So many choices and they all need to coordinate. Love your idea to make the tub into a shower and gain a closet.

Unfortunately, I think your bathroom is going to be so dark and drab with all the browns. Brown floor, brown tiles for the walls and then more brown accents.

Don't do accent tiles around the window. It will detract from your glass. Personally, I'd skip the accent tiles completely.

It's natural to want a complete change when redoing a bath but you're going very drastically dark from a light, open, airy look. It might look like a cave. I'm not trying to be mean but a bath is so expensive to re-do. This might be the look you're going for. On the other hand, you maybe haven't thought about it beyond the tiny tile samples that you have to use to make your decisions. I just don't want to see you make a costly mistake.

I agree with leelee. I wouldn't frame the window. Are you doing the vanity area?

The vanity will be painted last, once the tile is installed and walls repainted. I was trying to get away from the white tile/white grout look because it has been extremely hard to keep clean. This tile/grout is 22 years old so it needed updating and the previous homeowners painted over the grout in the shower to hide dirty grout. I do love the Carrera marble look but it is too out of our budget. I'm open to suggestions.....we are ordering the tile this weekend from Lowe's.

Try looking through the remnants at the marble yard. It may sound like you are scrounging, but believe me you will be amazed at what you can get for very little cost. And even more amazed at how many people do it. They have tons that will fit your vanity.

And while you are ordering at Lowes, get everyone's name and what part they play in this project. Take your little book or pad. Get the managers name and the people in charge of tracking your things. Sometimes things go array. Taking names gets their attention. I learned this the long, hard, expensive way.

Since the window will be in the shower, you should go to a specialty window company for their advice. If the window casings are not currently vinyl & it seems you have a leaded window in there, I think it will need some special care to protect & seal it. Good luck with the project.

I am choosing colours for my master bath in my new home, was thinking chocolate brown tiles on floor and white subway tile on tub skirt and shower, dark cabinets and white countertop, any thoughts on how this might look?
