Help with Kitchen Cabinet Crown Molding Dilemma

The crown molding on my kitchen cabinets does not end in my kitchen. It projects out into my family room on one side and into the hall on the other. The installer tells me this is the only solution.

A return would cause an even worse problem unless you can make some modifications. Can the crown be removed without destroying it? If so, have a flat wooden block or panel, painted to match the crown installed in behind the crown so that it would cover the open space. Then you can either do a return in front of the block or put the crown back on as it is. It is going to stick out beyond the other wall either way, it would just have a finished end. Before you go to all this trouble however, you need to make sure you understand what the return will look like. You may not like it.

Try the end technique...you can cut off the bottom part that doesn't fit but the top should cover the gap...

This fellow has crown molding videos on utube, he is very straightforward, easy to understand.
