no. i probably should have. I thought I put it next to the window everyday where it gets plenty of sun should be efficient.

No, you need to put them outside for gradually increasing amounts of time. It is brighter, windier, possibly wetter and more variable temperature-wise outside. Cold hardiness statements are for established plants, not newly transplanted, wimpy babies.
