Gigi (mini): bought from Trader Joe's last year and I separated them into four plants. Love the velvet texture of the petals.

America (climbing): last year it had powdery mildew all the time. This year, I gave it extra water and it has been very healthy.

My most fave. from all these lovely blooms is Ingrid Bergman. Love your gardeners' best friends as well.

Your roses are lovely. The foliage is so lush and healthy,too. Here in KY., just finished pruning to the ground so we have a bit of a wait for blooms! Your pics of Neil Diamond are beautiful...I planted two barrels last week! Lesley

Thank you everyone. I have been giving my roses a bit more attention (food and water) this season and it shows. Roses are strong plants and most of them will survive without a lot of attention from us. However, with a bit more attention from us, they will reward us with such strong plants and beautiful blooms.

Yes, Kippy. It is always a nice feeling to be able to keep the blooms last as long as we like when we capture those moments on camera.

Very nice! I notice the Gigi from Trader Joe's. I think I picked up the same one from there, but with the tags, it is really difficult to see what they are.

I'm getting Neil Diamond this year too! I love the white on it in your picture. Looks so much like the look I like in Variegata de Bologna (sp?).

I like the first ladybug shot - how many times can one get a picture of an adult and a baby (nymph?) ladybug!

I have Peter Mayle (how do you pronounce the name??) too (in a pot) - it's one of my favorite roses. The fragrance is incredible, and the blooms last forever.

Thank you Carol. As my Ebb Tide gets more mature, it produces deeper and richer color blooms.

Here is Whimsy (mini) under an unknown red tree rose. The other tree rose is Preference. The mini purple is Diamond Eyes and the mini yellow is Texas. Whimsy is the best rose in my garden. It blooms nonstop and is very healthy. It has a light gentle fragrance.

Gorgeous, gorgeous photos. Thanks for sharing! Especially that last of Neil Diamond - not a rose I've paid much attention to, but those shots are stunning. Do the blooms often have so much white to them? I'm getting Carding Mill this year and have two Munstead Wood that I planted in the fall - can't wait to see them bloom!

Thank you redwolfdoc. Neil Diamond's blooms are different every time. I have seen both dark and light colors on the bush. I like my Carding Mill a lot and I am sure you will like it too. It's beautiful and very healthy.

They are all lovely--but I was especially intrigued by your America climber. Do you have pics of it with fully opened blooms? How is it as a climber? Bs resistant?

We have not even reached bud stage yet in my zone--but lots of green healthy leaves!

Hi Kate,
America has beautiful blooms and the blooms last a long time on the bush but I think it is sensitive to water stress. It will have powdery mildew in my garden if it doesn't get enough water. BS is not a problem in CA so maybe someone in your area can answer that. As a climber, its canes are stiff and is a slow grower compared to my Eden climbers. All my climbers are grafted. My two America were planted in a bit shaded area and only about 6 ft height in third year. My three Eden have a bit more sun and are 12 ft height in second year.

Carding Mill is lovely. How big does it get for you?

You are going to enjoy having Molineux in your garden. It is a work-horse, and rarely out of bloom in my garden (Bay Area - mid-peninsula).

@Jo: Carding Mill is about the size that HMF stated which is 3ft x 4ft (w x h). It can take the heat well but it looks its best in cool weather. Thank you for the comment about Molineux. I'm looking forward to all the new bare root David Austin I ordered this season. Can't wait to see their blooms.

I apologize if this threat is getting long. At first I just wanted to post a few pics but then all the beautiful blooms keep popping up and I thought to myself how about just make this threat a spring journal of my garden so later I can look back and see how the seasons change. Thank you for all the kind words my fellow rose gardeners :)

Most of my roses are bare roots and that works out really well because we don't have very cold winter.

Actually, I've been coming back to keep looking at those shots of carding mill! I've ordered it for this spring but until then the beautiful photos here ate carrying me through! Rose junkies indeed...

Your roses are all so gorgeous and healthy! I'm not usually into the striped varieties, but that Neil Diamond is so pretty, I may have to keep an eye out for him. All your roses are quite enviable! Good for you! : )

Thanks Poppy. I felt the same as you a few years ago. I didn't care for striped roses either. Now I have Neil Diamond, Rock and Roll, and Gigi and adore all three.

Eden (climber): 3 grafted roses in 2nd year. They are extremely healthy with amazing blooms. Last year they didn't repeat a lot but I guess because they were still young. They don't have any fragrance but with all their positive sides, they are perfect just the way they are.

I think their magnificent looks on arbors or pergolas inspire people to grow climbing roses.

Golden Celebration: the open bloom and the bud next to each other are just too adorable.

Julia Child: this tree rose exceeds all expectations.

Marilyn Monroe: every bloom is a perfect bloom.

Helen, that Julia Child standard is just to die for and your Marilyn Monroe has just convinced me that it is a must for my fall order! And the Eden climber is fantastic - the rest as well. Definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of your garden!!!

I'm so going broke, lol. Black Bacara and Marilyn Monroe are on my hot list. Gorgeous.

Your MM rose is flawless. I never realized that MM could look like that. It's gone way up in my estimation. Might be a nice rose to get. Hmmmm.... :)

Carol, I think Julia Child is just a perfect candidate for tree rose. I help it along with a lot of helpful advices from everyone here. Warning, MM is thorny but for its look, I don't mind putting up with the thorns. I love my Eden, too :)
