Your decorator is correct, as long as the enhancer includes a sealer. Not all do.

i wouldnt roll cookie dough out on it, or knead bread on it, it would take a fair amount of elbow grease to clean up after. i have honed granite on the island, quartz on the perimeters. i think its good to have a place in the kitchen where mess can be made. the quartz is a dream to clean up after whatever i do.

I would look into Leathered or Satin Granites... they have the "matte" appeal of the honed finish, but not the issue with oil showing up from food and fingerprints. A favorite of mine is Mysore Black Satin

If sealed properly (some black i.e. Black Pearl take the sealer where absolute black doesn't) you should not have any problems at all with staining. However, due the oils, fingerprints will still show. On the black honed it will look more like a greasy spot than a fingerprint.

Does anyone have any updates about the honed quartz? I was looking at calcatta vicenza in matte ( honed) because when i went to MSI in Norwood, MA, I found that the matte wasn't as busy of a pattern and it was a lighter, more soothing design. After reading these reviews i'm nervous about the honed but I do like it better than polished, and I find that polished is more of an ivory and the matte is more of a white. Please help! I'm meeting tonight with the contractor.
