Not sure what kind of tape.
I think most in your zone cut it later in the season..just wait a little longer, some cut a little, the tree will do the rest. Don't cut too early,..you'll regret it when they brake off! I take it off the following spring when still dormant, some have fallen by then.

We never remove ours for at least 6 weeks, dependiing on that seasons growing conditions. You can always lightly cut through the tape and leave it wrapped around the graft if you sealed it with something that will still hold the tape in place. Gives a little support but removes the threat of girdling. I would still completely remove the tape at the end of the growing season.

Beware when grafting several varieties to one tree!

You have to keep on top of the more vigorous varieties by pruning way back or bending the branches down otherwise the vigorous ones will take over and can completely crowd out the weaker ones.
