I think it is fine to do some different colors of trim in specific rooms. I like to have all the same color trim in an open concept space, or in public rooms that have a visual flow between them, but if you want a different color trim in a bedroom or bathroom that can be lovely. And cream isn't that different from white anyway. My son's room has turquoise blue trim, despite there rest of the house being white.
