Vergolas vs. pergolas vs. trellis

Does anyone have any experience with one of these for your backyard/patio? Differences and pros/cons?

We are looking for something that looks nice and can provide our backyard with some options to shield sun/rain. Was originally thinking about an aluminum pergola with clear cover, but discovered the other 2 options (aluminum trellis and vergolas). Which options is best?

First, it might help to see where you're wanting to put it.

Second...why are you leaning toward a metal?

Plan to put it on our backyard, attached to one of the side walls. We don't like the wood pergola because overtime the color will fade, so presumably the aluminum structure will be more durable.
