Bea, mine gets full sun until about 2pm. Sun is hot in Florida. It is growing mounted, in a screened patio and I believe the screening does cut back on intensity a bit. Last year I grew it under a tree and it also flowered. I moved it to the patio because I can better control the water. I do not water it after Thanksgiving but it does get rain. It grows on a piece of wood bare root. It does grow very dry because I forget to water it. I don't think full sun outside would bother it.

Thanks Jane. Mine is mounted on tree fern. Everything I read says it needs very bright light but there is full sun and then there is Florida full sun, especially mid day. So I thought I'd check with you. Thanks again.

I agree, the sun here is brutal. Mine is inside the screened patio. I have also grown it under a tree getting a lot of morning and late afternoon. Didn't seem to bother it. I would water it well after it finishes flowering. You want to get as many growths as possible. I dunk my mount in a bucket with some fertilizer.

I've read that, technically, it needs to be "blasted" with sun to encourage it to flower. I'm going to follow your advise. Does humidity go up in your zone during the warmer months?
Here in Cali it goes way down, then we get the Santa Anas....

Humidity goes off the chart in summer here. Blast and dunk sounds perfect!
