That bud looks so full of promise. Of course you know you are required to show us pictures when it's blooming. I've always thought that this is one gorgeous rose.

Sara-Ann, I think we are almost as excited as you are with that bud, very pretty pink. You must be a lot warmer zone 6 that I am in Lexington, KY.

Thanks everyone. Kentucky, my roses seem to be a week or two early this year. Even a few of the buds on my hybrid teas are getting fairly big. I usually anticipate them beginning to bloom around May 1st. We had some real winter weather this season, but not that much, it has been relatively mild. I live in a location that is in between Zone 6 and Zone 7, I'm right on the edge, so I just say Zone 6. My daughter says we are in Zone 6. My roses broke dormancy way before I pruned them, which was about a week before the forsythia bloomed, probably a little over a month ago. I am excited for everyone else's roses to start blooming too.

Last year my first bloom was May 10th. We are having nice warm weather with lots of rain. Keep us updated with your roses.

Jim, it is taking forever for it to open! I'm not complaining though, because we've had rain and the temperatures have cooled somewhat, it's a good thing, because we desperately need moisture here and it is sure helping my rose bushes. It has opened enough that I was able to smell it, the fragrance is wonderful!

Sara-Ann, Here the first buds do take a lot longer to bloom in the spring. I guess because of the cooler temps and sometimes the blooms are deformed from taking way too long. Still no buds, or tiny imaginary buds, lots of rain. We've had over 10 inches of rain this month!

Our roses only have very tiny leaves so they still actually look naked... We won't get blooms here until late May or early June....
