I know this is an old discussion, but we're considering a similar project. A couple questions - where is your closet space? And did you regret not having a bathroom in the space? Did you have kids in that house? If yes, did they sleep downstairs and was that ever an issue? Thanks!

We had a bathroom and closets in this room! Our kids were in the two rooms downstairs - they were 4 and 6 when we moved out - and it was never an issue (I kept video monitors in their room)

Also, if you look at the last picture you can see a wall with a mirror on the left side. The bathroom is behind that wall. Then if you zoom in you can see one of the walk in closet doors on the other side of the white dresser. The second walk in is direct across from it at the top of the stair landing.

No, we had two skylights. You can see one in the first picture. The house was a craftsman, not a cape cod.
