Congratulations! Not so sure "modern" is quite the current look, with the shutters, door style, brick, etc. However, adding some cottage charm is going to be as easy as changing out the modern lighting, numbers and mailbox (probably new so consider reselling them), adding shutters to the larger window, adding window trim and larger shutters to the smaller window to match the size OR using window boxes to visually match them up, painting the front door and garage door in a contrast color, and starting to increase the size of the planting beds to add trees, color, and perhaps seating. Some trim around the windows and doors along with adding the shutters would help. You might also consider expanding the front entrance (pavement and landscape area) by adding brick or stone pavers and expanding the size of the landing area in front of the door. That would make it more inviting. Add a picket fence with a gate and an arbor. Cottage style plantings can camouflage some of the brick curtain wall. When you can afford it, change the brick curtain wall to a faux stone. Some of the man made stone finishes aren't too expensive.
