them on Extreme Homes (HGTV.) Keep the rug, but remove the cabinet and picture from the right wall. Center the table on the rug so it aligns with the arch opposite the stairs. Hang the art on the angled wall under the stairs. Add a dramatic silk floral arrangement to the table and remove all the other items.

Place the round table on the round rug and move to the best looking spot of the foyer. Perfect space for that combination. Will look great with the circle motif in the door.

Thanks It has been 16 years since I decorated or touched these rooms so it is great to get new perspective. I am moving some things around as we speak and trying some of these suggestions. Attached are better pictures with the rug moved under the round table and also shows better that I have 2 cabinets as you enter to the right. Should I remove 1 as someone suggested or is maybe the rug is too big? Take a look and let me know what else you all think. Thanks again and the inspiration pics totally helped!

... girl, you live in a palace. Remove the cabinet closest to the door. I like what you did with the rug and table. You should definitely have a dramatic flower vase on the table with maybe a table runner. But if you have a big flower display, there's no point in hanging anything on the wall under the stairs:

Don't move it to the center of the rug. It's going to get in the way and would look a little OCD-ish.

it is a beautiful space, as you know of course, and i think it could only be improved by removing almost everything. just tooo much going on, in the foyer and visible adjoining rooms. like a woman wearing too much jewelry, take a few pieces off, have some breathing space.

I had suggested moving the cabinet out, but now that I see there is a pair, just center the rug and then center the table on it, both exactly in front of the arch that is between the cabinets. Then shop for a great floral arrangement.

What do you think? In the 1st picture I moved table to center. Feels a little tight walking around it. In 2nd picture I removed the cabinet but since I have a pair the room felt strange without it). I placed a vase on the table and hung the picture as you suggested on the angled wall. (this is not the vase I would choose but just so you could see scale). and finally in the 3rd picture I pulled a chair from another room into the foyer just to see what that would do to the space. Please take a look and let me know your thoughts. Thanks again all the suggestions. Almost there I think. now I just need to convince my husband to retire his RED popcorn machine from my family room!

just out of curiosity, switch the chair and the side table around (swap places)? Just wanted to see how it would look.
