I love those bedding colors 100%. Good job. Also, think about varying texture you see and add a throw to foot of bed in a color or a faux fur etc...! experiment...its fun!

For really making room " WOW" but, adult think about a backdrop for bed....

A really adult and chic treatment would be a fabric wrapped board behind bed about 54" ht. (about where shelf is now) and extending from left wall to right wall. Horizontal shelf on wall shows you have the right instinct to emphasize a horizontal element but, you need to dial the whole thing up BIGGER! Color could be anything but, a few ideas are champagne, hot pink, mango, peacock blue.... all timely color trends right now.

Fabric wrapped board should have definition but, softness so, fabricators often use fill and batting for board softness. An easier technique than a giant wrapped board might be to make several upholstered rectangles or "rolls" and put them up on the wall like tiles... BIG TILES.

Depending on budget and job skills you bring to project, you could create this item yourself or turn to a local upholstery shop or source that builds fabric headboards. It is a fabric headboard item that I am talking about except it is more like paneling in that it would go from wall to wall and be a backdrop for your bed and nightstands.

To give top of board more "boldness and finishing" you could add some molding in a trim color that matches the darker taupe of the bedding. This final touch would give it the HORIZONTAL emphasis and feeling of width that I think is key to the whole concept.

Attaching only picture I have of soft wall behind bed and it is a padded wall and not a fabric wrapped board but, I think you can start to get the effect and idea I'm after by seeing this picture. In the picture, the wall panels are in 4 horizontal sections. In your room I think I would create maybe (3) panel sections that top out @ 54" ht.. OR stay with (1) giant panel and create dimensional interest with rolls or buttons or pleats. I think the key is to study fabric headboards and duplicate an effect you like but, go wall to wall like in this picture!

Notice in picture bed scene is an urban environment. I'm sure the fully padded wall brings quietness to the room and that was owner's need and designer's intention. In your case quietness will be a bonus and the expansive wall to wall treatment a great way to set off bedding you love.

I really like the stencils we used as accent on back wall...but you could use a headboard too

...maybe a bed that has storage drawers in it and nightstands with drawers too. Ikea used to have a bed that had a storage unit in the headboard section. Nightstands that are small chests are common for adding more drawer storage but, you have to have the space. It sounds like that you are going to have to take over space in other areas outside this bedroom close by for closet function.

The wood shelf in back of the bed would be great painted to bring in an accent color. Grab a few toss pillows and paint the shelf to match them. Get corresponding vases for the shelf ( use mac-tac to be sure they don't fall on you). Paint the lamp shade too.

In college I used under the bed roll out boxes. We made them by buying an old dresser ($ 20.00) then attaching wheels ($ 8.00 for a set of four) to the drawers. The leftover part of the dresser became a console table.
