Can someone please help with the trim kit!? The directions state a minimum depth of 25 1/4" is needed and the cabinet side panels are only 24" deep (aren't they all?). My installer is concerned it won't all work out. I'm not sure *why* it wouldn't work. You have to put your refrigerator (and freezer) up on levelers too? Any help would be great. He's coming back to finish up and I'd like your input. I'll try calling Frigidaire and/or Electrolux tomorrow (Monday) too.

thanks for response. I just wonder *what* would be 'off' by having refrigerator panel only 24" deep? Would refrigerator be proud of trim kit too much? I don't have the trim kit yet so I can't picture the potential problem. I can go without the trim kit too which may be what we have to do.

Did you get the Thermador range top or cooktop? How has it performed?

Avoid the Electrolux ICON suite. Just take a look at the reviews. Zero customer service or support and design flaw in the double oven. Electrolux acknowledges the flaw but will not service it at all. Electrolux double ovens have a design flaw where you cannot clean the oven door. It is permanently stained from the first time you wipe it down. Their response? Disassemble the door, clean it and reinstall it. A totally impractical solution. Customer service response? Out of warranty coverage. Avoid buying Electrolux appliances and save yourself the aggravation!

I am sorry you've had that experience. We've had no problems whatsoever with our ICON professional fridge, freezer, ovens and warming drawer over more than 4 years. (I'm the original poster of this thread.) We bought from a local family-owned appliance store which I recommend because they handle any warranty claims (the only time we needed to was when we yanked on a drawer and broke a clip ourselves.) I'd suggest everyone does their research - many website have varying reviews (also look at how many reviews are there and there are often different reviews for the set vs one individual fridge or freezer), and I would recommend talking to a local appliance store vs ordering online or from a big box store. As a designer - I'm specifying the all refrigerator/ all freezer Elecrolux units for my own home for multiple reasons - value/ bang for your buck/ built-in look/ space. This combination is more than half the cost of other brands like Subzero, Bosch, etc...but by the time I'm ready to replace these - who knows what kind of mind blowing appliances will be available. I am disappointed that they are not Energy Star rated - that would certainly be a big selling point if they were & I'm wondering if it's because of the fact that you are opening the whole door every time - letting a lot of the cool air to escape. That all said - just be mindful of their odd dimensions relative to other models if you want the option to replace them down the road with something different/ different brand. You may want to oversize the space they are sliding into if you have the room to allow for 36"Width instead of 32" to allow for that possibility if you can spare the extra inches. There are trim kits available as well to adjust for the height differences. Frankly - for myself - I'm not too concerned & having the extra space now is more important to me.

I can't speak from having actually used these appliances yet - but from my research - this is what we plan on going with.

Most average refrigerators/ appliances are designed to last about 12 years (it's like they have a timer in them set to break down on the 12 year calendar date anniversary of plugging it in). For as much as I love the higher end appliances - the ticket price isn't going to fall into our budget, and getting a smaller all-in-one combo model doesn't give us the space we're looking for for our family and love of cooking.

I have the Electrolux Icon series: fridge, dishwasher, double oven, 5 burner counter insert stove. Customer service is horrendous. The oven door glass literally exploded the first time I tried to self clean. The top oven floor is cracked and you can see the coils beneath. Beautiful aesthetics, just didn't think I'd be searching for replacement appliances so soon.

We purchased the entire Icon suite except the dishwasher. Separate Fridge/Freeze with trim kit, 36" 6 burner gas range, single electric wall oven and microwave. So far everything has been excellent. We went with an Asko Dishwasher due to its neutral design and functionality. Honestly the decision on our choice came down to functionality and fit. We needed separate Fridge/freeze for food space, 36" range and a microwave with a pull down door. As I remember there were only 5 brands that had a pull down door on the Microwave. We eliminated KA due to its oven issues. That left Wolf, Bosch, Frigidaire (Elux) and GE. We had GE in the prior house and was tired of replacing control boards every year in the Fridge. Frigidaire didn't have a 36" 6 burner stove neither did Bosch so it was down to Wolf and Electrolux. Wolf would have been a 15-20k premium so we chose the Electrolux. Honestly kitchen design isn't easy if you are trying to achieve aesthetics and functionality. We crunched numbers, analyzed features and reliability for months trying to get a sweet spot. Going to showrooms talking to sales people became frustrating each touting their lines while trashing others. We ended up purchasing online. No regrets.

we have owned the electrolux icon freezer- fridge side by side built in with frame kit and installed it when we built our house 14 years ago. The fridge door handle is falling off and is unlevel and the fridge is not staying closed we have tried to fix it and had our own repairman out too. This has been happening for the last year but now the temp is starting to go crazy and looks like its time for a replacement. looking at the previous post our ice maker did go out quickly but we nevser fixed it we got a seperate ice machine. Tryng to decide what to replace the set with ? Same replacement or theres a Forno brand thats soooo much less? But looks like we got our money out of it if the average is 10-14 years on a fridge. We have a big family so love the huge set!
