Do you have to re stain the cedar often? How do you keep it like this

We live at high altitude and the sun is very strong. We have to stain our patio floor every year. I'm worried to put more wood i need to maintain all the time but I love this look. Do you have any advise?

Thanks for your question! The schedule of re-coating a semi-transparent stained cedar varies greatly depending on climate and exposure. The combination of rain and sun certainly speed up the timeline. Generous overhangs and strategic locations (placing on more protected areas of the house) help expand this timeline. If the intention is to keep the cedar looking new/recently finished, you'll likely be looking at re-applying every couple years. A labor of love for sure!
