in short, yes they do stain. can stains be prevented by sealing and care? perhaps. do you want your counter tops to be at the mercy of your sealing and care? thats up to you.

when i go into the kitchen, fur and feathers fly. i dont want to mind where the lemon juice or red wine might end up. at the end of the evening i want to give a scrub to the counters and be done with it.

marble is lovely. i put in quartz that mimics marble.

Or, maybe a natural quartzite. If you cook a lot, I think marble could be quite a challenge unless you like the stains and etching as part of the natural marble process.
