Viable seed pod?

This seed pod is starting to open and it just doesn't look right to me. For starters, it's in a screened lanai, so I don't know what pollinated it. It's been on there for several months, but is still small and the same color it was in the beginning. It's soft, not hard.

Here's a better look at the plant, which brings me to the leaves and flowers.

The leaves are still mottled looking and the flowers are not opening nicely. I cannot see any pests, but it sure looks like there is something eating on it. A white DR sitting right next to it is doing well.

I have treated with Bayer 3-in-1 several times since last year, but things are staying the same. I am considering a drench with Bayer Tree and Shrub. Will this damage the plant if used full strength? It is 0.74% imidacloprid.

I was going to prune, but waited since the seed pod showed up. If it is not viable, I can remove it and move forward. I also want to repot and look at the roots for possible pests and change soil.

Any suggestions on what I should do first are greatly appreciated!!

Hi Crenda - I haven't had a seed pod on my plants so I can't say if yours is viable. I looks good but I'm not sure. From the photos I've seen the pod seems to turn a tan color. I would wait and see before removing it.

When was the last time you fertilized? What kind of sun does your plant get? How much water? Is it getting the same treatment as the white Adenium next to it?

Thanks for the reply, Maark. Both of my DRs get the same treatment. Full sun, water at least weekly since they dry up faster on the hot sun deck. It's probably been a few months since I fertilized this plant. I was told not to fertilize an ill plant, and since I can seem to get a handle on what is wrong, I didn't. Should I change that pronto? Both are in perlite/cs soil mix. I intend to switch to full gritty mix at the next repot.

The frustrating part is that this plant has look about the same for a year. I do battle mealies and aphids this time of year, but I am all over my plants at the first sign of them. Even one puts me into battle mode.
