1st Azalea

I picked up an Azalea "Stewartstonian" this week and I have the area all ready to go to plant it. My question is..the spot I have decided on has some clay but the clay is about 1 and a half to 2 feet below the surface area and I dug a space almost 3 feet deep.I have some peat moss I plan on using as a soil amendment and the area does get good drainage. Is it safe to plant it? Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated.
