My question is: indoor air quality with a preserved wood. In Canada, we don't have indoor air quality requirements. Yep. Health Canada, in their ultimate wisdom (these are the same people who allowed Thalidomide to be used for another 5 years after everyone else banned it) have not deemed it necessary to include "heathly" requirements for indoor air quality.

Pressurized wood requires preservatives. My question becomes, what are the chemicals used to preserve wood long enough to withstand 100 yeas in the ground/weather?

This is the question I would start with. California has standards. Europe has standards. England has standards (separate from the EU...but never mind) but Canada does not.

My brother did this when he built his log "dream" home several years back in Minnesota. I don't know any of the details but I am pretty sure it was pressure treated (I know for sure it was wood). Sadly he moved only a few years after having built the house....not sure how well it all worked out or has held up over time?
