I love my fabric pots! Helps keep soil temps down in the summer & automatically root prunes! A lot of people prefer black plastic, I think it kinda depends on your climate tho.

I have a Grove Farm in one and its not grown as well as others in a comparable size. Not so sure of reasons at this point. Only known draw back is getting too close with a weed eater.

@ kms2 - is it not growing as well as other grove farms in plastic pots? It's not really fair to compare different varietals do to different growth rates. I know that black plastic will really absorb the heat helping keep soil temps up. This works well unless you have really hot summers, like I do.

Also, have you given the roots enough time to expand to the ends of the pots yet? When the roots hit the oxygen coming through the fabric it root prunes & grow new shoots. My trees in the 65g pots should be there next season, expecting big growth!

Thanks for the insight , we have hot summers so I suppose it may keep the roots cooler, even though I will have to water more.

@ red - if you have 2 trees of the same variety you might want to try a head to head.

Thanks but all the trouble shooting has been done over a year's time. I don't know if its the fabric container or or just a weak specimen.

K - is that your only Grove Farm? I'm just curious, and getting ready to do a little research, but my GF is far behind other cuttings that I had acquired at the same time. I have never heard of any problems with GF that I can remember.

@ red - a head to head would be taking two trees of the same cultivar, same size, puting them in the exact same conditions, & seeing which grows better.
