Need help with living room

I'm currently redecorating my living room around the art work shown. I just purchased the sectional now I'm having trouble on what type of curtains, rug and coffee table I should get. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pictures of the other walls in the room would be helpful.

I like your large ceiling moldings. If you have large moldings around the windows as well I might forgo curtains in favor of shutters, high end wood blinds, or woven wood shades (the last if you don't need privacy during the day when they are up) so that you get the full effect of the moldings.

I like the idea of a round or square table with your sectional. You could also consider a Noguchi table. http://www.hermanmiller.com/products/tables/occasional-tables/noguchi-table.html

Go lighter in color for the drapes. Perhaps yellow or gold. I would also add more pillows in different colors onto the sectional. The area rug seems fine it just needs to be pulled more under the feet of the sofa on the right side. Add some multi colored pillows with navy blues & yellows & golds for the sofa. They should help pull everything together nicely.

Sorry, in Korea right now (military...70 days to go :) decorating from a distance....will try and get my daughter to get more views of living room. But to give you an idea the wall across for picture just contains hanging flat screen and the wall to right has mantel with 3 way fireplace that then leads to dining room and kitchen.

Need to see walls with fireplace and where the TV will go.

Lower your picture so it's 5 inches above the sofa.

Are there windows on both sides of the painting or are those just panels?

Drapes look slightly short and lack width as well but hard to tell from the picture. Here's the formula for getting the width right-- It is common to keep 3/2 rules when determining the width of drapes. For example, your window has width of 40 inch, and then you will need drapes with 40x3 inch then divided by 2. The answer is 60 inches for a 40 inch wide window. That way they don't look cheaply done and will properly cover.

You need a large square coffee table (glass and wood would work) that is just less than 2/3 of the length of three of your cushions. For height, it should be within 1-3" of the sofa seat height.

Would you remove your curtains and take a photo at night so we can see your windows? Is that a FP mantel in the right foreground? We need to see all four walls of the space to offer you the best help.

Do something a little more interesting and artsy for a coffee table.

Big square coffee table. Love the colours in the painting, few more pops of those would be awesome.

leelee Im in love with that table, where did you find it?

It's called Paxton Screen 40" coffee table. Unfortunately, it's not cheap. $1300 approximately. Available at OneKingsLane but you might check the Houzz site, too.

This one is $687 by Zenique. A little more rustic.

I like the red curtains in the pic that er612 posted. Looks great.

One more for only $500--tempered glass 40 x 40 called Zuo Sojourn.

As I am in love with the Paxton Screen 40" coffee table shown above , it's out of my price range. So I came up with these options....please let me know what you think :),

Who cares about the Paxton. I like the round one better anyway! Do you have an example of light gold curtains?

I would put a good size square shape coffee table. I also like leelee's idea of a clear temper glass/lucite table, to tie in with modern feel of the art piece. The red curtains are nice, but what about curtain with orange color in it, less intense so it won't compete with the painting as a focal point.

Thoughts on this table (JossandMain) and orange curtains from IKEA. Still trying to find carpet and pillows.

I think the yellow curtains are still my favorite but the IKEA ones are far cheaper. Plus they are not lined so they are probably lighter in person. I like the coffee table. Is it about the same width of your current coffee table?

Thoughts on if rug would work? I purchased new table (shown above) and was thinking about getting white on light yellow curtains. Any advice on pillows would also be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a picture of the curtains?

Er612 I don't have pictures of curtains but I was thinking solid white or pale yellow as you suggested earlier.

The blue rug seems too pastel with the yellow curtains but I like it with the orange ones. I found a different rug from Crate & Barrel for the yellow curtains, which I really like. What do you think?

er12.....I like the yellow rug with the yellow curtains....however my pockets can't handle the $1200 price. I also agree with you and like the blue rug with the orange curtains.

Totally understand. I didn't even look at the price. As a bonus if you choose the blue rug, you'll save a bundle on the orange curtains.

    Exactly what I was thinking:)

The panels should be 2 shades darker than walls, or go a color blocked with gold and white. A chevron print would work too. Rug go a 8x10 shag in a dark blue. Or even a black and white cow hide. You could do a chevron rug in yellow and then make panels a solid yellow . A big round coffee table would work best with a sectional. 24" or bigger. Black metal or glass and metal. Ck IKEA.

Nancy Travisinteriors I purchased the glass and brass table in previous comments do you think chevron curtains with a dark blue solid rug would complaint it. If so what color chevron curtains would you suggest....thank you.
