Perhaps Impatiens?

Looks like impatiens. If your friend has the mother plant, you can get more cuttings.

Those areas where there used to be leaves, you can put them in the ground or growing medium up to that point. It will attempt to root and then you can have the plant growing once it does. Try to do several at the same time since it is not always 100% success rate.

I usually scrape a couple of the nodes where the other leaves were and dip in rooting hormone. I also only leave a couple leaves on my cuttings because I want the energy to go to the roots. Lots of times my rose cuttings will lose all their leaves before rooting. An idea would be to make two cuttings from it. You learn from making mistakes! Just an FYI, a lot of people use the "baggie" method to start cuttings. I personally have never had any success at that. I use similar method to lil_dani's, but with a larger Rubbermaid container.. You don't want the soil to be too wet or the cuttings will rot.
