The couch is green and yes, I have a black piano but covered to keep the dust away.

The piano has its own bench, but I guess the angle in which I took the picture doesn't help. I can't pull up the blinds as this room faces the street. But we are also planning on changing he blinds at some point.

Would it help if I change the piano cover to another color so the colors don't compete as much?

its worth buying a non-pink piano cover, yes.

I like the idea of having two side panels that starts from above the top window. This enhances the heights of the room. I would pick a solid color in neutral with black and green banding on the inner leading edges of the panels. bring several pillows in solid colors from the rug with one in a print and another small pillow that will have the same trim in black and green.

One thing that no one has mentioned is the starburst (clock?) way, way up there in the clouds. It needs to come down. Try it over the table. Hang it about 5 inches over the table and show a picture, please. It may be too large for the table but give it a try.

The sofa needs to be centered with the curtains/windows.

Plain, solid color curtains will be nice with patterned rug.
